The Ojai Valley The Ninth Annual Ojai Film Festival arrives on the scene November 6-9 with special events and screenings taking place in the intimate town of Ojai, near Ventura. Already in place are the dazzling Lifetime Achievement Honorees - America’s sci-fi author, Ray Bradbury, and the highly-acclaimed directing/producing team of Lauren Shuler Donner and Richard Donner. They will be get feted on Saturday, November 8th, and screenings of Bradbury’s “The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit” and the Donner’s “Ladyhawke” will take place that afternoon with a Q&A immediately following. The evening ceremonies get underway 7pm Saturday at the Hacienda Ballroom located at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa resort. The festival’s 2008 program of more than 50 films will give moviegoers a choice of many genres to see: features, documentaries, shorts, and animated films. To kick off the festival on November 6, Charlie Chaplin’s classic “City Lights” will be screened under the stars at the Ojai Valley Inn’s Recreation Field at 7:30 pm – a free event for the community, a tradition the festival has carried on since its beginning. The Ojai Film Festival’s tagline is “Enriching the Human Spirit through Film,” and it’s getting noticed by the Hollywood elite: Producer Peter Guber announced on the stage last year at the Toronto Film Festival, “The Ojai Film Festival is becoming the next Telluride.” The Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach Hotel, Ventura’s only beachside hotel, is offering discount room packages for the Ojai Film Festival 2008 weekend of November 6-9.
